Dr. Laura Soong

Doctor BIO

Dr. Laura Soong is a dual board certified Dermatologist in Canada and the USA. Originally from central interior British Columbia, she completed her undergraduate studies in sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia, followed by Pharmacy at the University of Alberta and subsequently completed her medical degree followed by Dermatology residency at the University of Alberta.

During her training she published numerous peer reviewed papers in the field of Dermatology. She was awarded top female academic student in her medical school class. She served as Chief Dermatology resident and was awarded the Canadian Dermatology Association Resident Teaching Award and the Isidore & Rebecca Hardin Prize in Dermatology for achievements in the field.

She now serves as Clinical Lecturer for the University of Alberta and participates in the On Call Dermatology service. She enjoys teaching and learning medical students and residents and enjoys sharing the field of Dermatology through her online social media platforms @dermdoclaura.

Her special interests include skin cancer, pigmented lesions, women’s health, and immunodermatology. In her spare time, she enjoys trying out new hobbies and spending time with family and her two dogs, Happy and Piglet.
