PRP for Hair Loss

What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) consists of two elements: plasma and platelets.

Plasma is the liquid portion of the blood, and the platelet is a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area.

This procedure starts off by taking a vial of blood and spinning it in the centrifuge, leaving just the plasma to be injected. The platelet rich plasma can be injected into the sub-dermal layer of the scalp, eyes, neck, or face.

PRP for Hair Loss

The plasma works to nourish and strengthen the existing hair follicles, resulting in a more active hair growth. The recommended treatments are 3-5 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, depending on your response and the degree of thinning hair. New hair growth can be seen in as little as 4-8 weeks, but peak results are normally within 6-8 months and will continue for up to a year after treatment.

Maintenance treatments are recommended one or twice a year thereafter.
